Applied English for Tourism 1

Intermediate

,

Applied English for Tourism 1. Intermediate offers an up-to-date, practice-oriented approach to the communicative situations encountered in the tourism sector. Organized around professional genres and realistic contexts, it develops students' linguistic competence and their, intercultural awareness, and understanding of communication with clients, institutions, and stakeholders.
Through collaborative and experiential activities—including discussions, role-plays, case studies, problem-solving tasks, presentations, and tourism product design—students use English for authentic professional purposes. They learn to advise travelers, create itineraries, promote destinations, handle complaints, and deliver guided tours, combining linguistic accuracy with effective, audience-sensitive communication. The integrated Writing Bank provides models and language support for key tourism-related genres, helping learners communicate confidently in academic and professional settings across diverse international and intercultural tourism environments today.
Beatriz Chaves Yuste has over twenty-five years of experience teaching English as a foreign language and English for Specific Purposes. Her work focuses on professional communication, applied linguistics, and materials design for professional and academic language learning.
